Free Initial Assessment

The GCSE initial assessment gives a detailed and precise picture of each learner’s current level by using questions specific to each course. A base level is established from which the learner can build on their strengths and improve any areas they aren’t as confident on.

Pass then tracks progress in real time as learners answer questions, helping them and their training providers monitor improvement throughout the course without needing repeated diagnostic tests. Every single question our learners get right updates their progress keeping them motivated on their journey.

Identify Knowledge Gaps

Pass offers a Subject Knowledge Assessment that pinpoints exactly which topics require more revision. Unlike the initial assessment that simply places learners at the right level, this tool goes deeper by highlighting gaps in knowledge while also acknowledging what learners already know. From there, a personalised study plan is built around their individual needs.

Current Level

The GCSE diagnostic tests are used to establish a learner’s Current Level – a dynamic measure of their ability within GCSE curriculum. This is first calculated from the initial assessment and then continuously updated as learners complete exercises on the student platform.

What makes this system stand out is its intelligent algorithm, which goes beyond simple percentage scores. It weighs question difficulty, rewarding learners who can tackle harder questions while not over-penalising gaps in more basic areas. The result is a far more accurate picture of a learner’s true ability, ensuring they’re placed on the right course with support focused where it’s actually needed.

Uniquely, this approach can also identify high-ability learners who still have specific areas to work on – something no other assessment tool currently does.

The decision on which course a learner is enrolled onto always rests with the training provider or educator. Pass initial assessments are simply there to support and inform that decision – the educator retains full control over which course is the best fit for their learner.

What are the different types of diagnostic tests and what are the differences?

Diagnostic Tests describe both Initial Assessments and Subject Knowledge Assessments, with the Initial Assessments giving a baseline for your learners to build from and the Subject Knowledge Assessments highlighting specific areas for our learner’s to improve.
