What is Mallorca Tutoring Academy and what types of learners do you support?
“So 16 years ago in Mallorca, my business partner and I started a tutoring academy. This was based on evenings and Saturdays, and it was for children who were at school, both international and Spanish schools, and we supported them in the British and Spanish curriculum.
Over the years, our business grew, and then we were asked to do more what we call “day students”. So we had people who couldn’t go to school for whatever reason – maybe it was sickness, maybe it was bullying, maybe they travel – and so we needed to look at something that was slightly different.
And we developed, alongside the standard tutoring, a blended learning operation. We have a completely virtual operation which is available as well for people who are travelling or who are not on the island.”
How does the Pass platform benefit your learners?
“The learners we have are generally those who struggle, those who have had no continuity with their learning, those who maybe need to stop and start for whatever reason, and so this allowed that to happen. It also gives them another opportunity to get the certificate if they find that the standard curriculum is too much.”
How did you first find Pass?
“It was actually a mother who had recommended you, and somebody who I knew quite well. She had enrolled her daughter privately and she said that she thought it was fantastic, so I then specifically went to look at Pass and I thought it was exactly what we wanted.“
What features of the Pass platform do your learners enjoy most?
“Many of our learners are very visual learners, so just writing notes is just not ideal for them. So the video solutions or the video way that they can watch a video is very, very interactive for them. So that’s very effective.
And the practice questions, because it’s an acid test, you know, let’s practice what you’ve just learned. So those two things are very useful.”
Have you seen an improvement in your learners since using Pass?
“Definitely, we have seen an improvement in them. And also because they’ve really embraced the way that it worked, they are quite self-sufficient as well. So they’re not just having to sit with us and us to do that. They can go and practice, they can go and work on their own as well, which gives them extra practice. So yes, it has been a great asset to our delivery.”

“I love the platform. The platform is very easy. My tutors are very comfortable with it.”
How have you found the account management team at Pass?
“I think the communication is great, you’re very, very helpful. I do a lot of like “I can’t remember this, can you help me?”, which is brilliant. So from a service point of view and a customer service point of view, it’s fantastic.”
Do you use Pass’ reporting features?
“I like the features. It’s very clear. I do use reporting and I can see exactly where the students are. So when I go and speak to my tutors, I know what have they done and where they are, so that’s really good”
Would you recommend Pass?
“Definitely, for sure. I think it’s a great asset.
Maths is one of those subjects that students find really difficult and therefore there has to be an alternative and this is a great alternative and it does give them the facility to have an iGCSE equivalent, which is very, very important.
So for us, it’s a wonderful addition to the overall offering that we give to our clients.
In my opinion, this is the way forward.”
